Woman Loosed from Spine Twisting Demon

Luke 13:10-17, A Spirit of Infirmity

10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”

15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” 17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

The Word says the reason Jesus came in the flesh was to destroy the works of the devil because of His great love for which He loved us.

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. – 1 John 3:8

All sickness is a work of the evil one because it entered the earth through the rebellion at the fall. No rebellion. No sickness. Jesus came not only to pay our sin debts in full but to destroy everything sin birthed into the earth.

We see Jesus’ great love and passion to loose the woman from the demonic spirit of infirmity and His anger towards those with hardened hearts who loved their clout, their “celebrity pastor status,” and man-made religious traditions far above seeing a captive of the devil set free.

Jesus Rescue Mission Hasn’t Changed Nor Expired!

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed.

-Luke 4:18

When Jesus ascended into heaven and was seated at the right hand of the Father, He poured out His Spirit upon us, His church, to be vessels of His glory, joint rescuers in Him to preach the Good News, heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, and tell the nations that the Kingdom of Heaven (God has come near to them).

May the church return to Your whole counsel and obey you and be vessels that set captives free. Glory to God!
